Any recommendations on how to keep the leather interior of a 300E as durable as the rest of the vehicle. I feel the car will last forever, but I don't have as warm and fuzzy of a feeling about the leather interior. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Guss,
If well cared for Mercedes leather can be as durable as other people's vinyl. (150K miles isn't uncommon) MB's vinyl, aka MB Tex, could probably be used to plate the underside of the space shuttle. If the leather is in good shape (no cracks, mild creases, original texture) then regular treatments with Lexol will do wonders. Use the Lexol leather cleaner with a very slightly damp terry or sponge. Apply, agitate, then wipe with a different "clean" surface. Upon completion of the leather cleaning. (be sure to get the backs of the seats, in the grooves, around the front of the seats, etc) You should then condition. Using a sponge, apply Lexol conditioner to the leather surfaces. Wait an hour or so for it to sit. Then buff off with a clean, dry, terrycloth. If you notice any spots that seem to of "absorbed" allot of the conditioner another coat over these areas certainly wont hurt. You can almost make a policy of double treatments on the high stress areas. (like the outside driver's seat bolsters) Hope this helps and let me know if you need anything further. Happy Detailing...Lee |

Thanks for the response. I am STRUGGLING to find a local retailer here in the midwest that carries the product.
Any thoughts or input on retailers for Lexol brand products in the midwest would be greatly appreciated! Guss out |

Almost any tack shop or equestrian related store will sell Lexol...usually at a lower price than you'll find at an auto supply store.
