Dear friends,

My light metallic green 1984 300d is due for a complete respray (insurance paying for some recent hail damage). When it returns, what should I do to make the paint work keep its finish for as long as possible? How long should I wait etc? (BTW, the car doesn't have a garage, facing the elements 24hrs a day)

Thanks in advance,

David Rayment.

David,
You may wash it as often as you like, which may be pretty frequently, until the paint has had time to cure fully. Smell will be an indicator. Don't wax or anything similar for a month to two months. Until that time, just wash it more often. Once you have passed the break-in period just use the time tested combo of #7 and #26. (or 3M hand glaze and wax)

Sorry to hear about the hail damage. Glad to see your trying to make the best of it. If you need anything else feel free to ask.

Lee
