I have used many waxes and polishes in my day and Klasse is the only product which has produced consistently satisfactory results. This stuff comes as a system of two: a red bottle called which cleans , removes oxidation and polishes; and a silver bottle which provices a brilliant, deep, mirror shine. I know, I sound like a salesman or something, but this stuff really works. Don't bother trying to find it at your local autopart store: I have only seen it at Mercedes Benz and BMW dealers, and only on the west coast, at that. If you do mange to find it, buy it (by the way, it ain't cheap). I, for one, will never willingly use another car finish (Klasse does not contain wax) on my mercedes again.

It sounds like a show-prep type product. Not to burst your bubble but part of the reason it may look so good is that it is polishing the bare surface. It is a pretty good gamble that no Concours winner has wax on his finish... However those cars frequently live in a trailer or a museum. As I have discussed previously, there are different attributes when caring for a show-car vs caring for a street car. Without any wax I would be concerned that the finish wasn't well protected from day to day hazards. I know there are some polymer based products out there but I have been told (by Barry Meguiar) that they do the paint no favors in the long run. I'm not familiar with the product firsthand. Do you have any other information on it?

The product is imported from Germany by Klasse Surface Protector, Inc., P.O. Box 597, Pacifica, CA 94044. The "All-In-One" (red bottle) carries the following info: "One Step: Heavy duty non-abrasive cleaner protector; polish;long lasting acrylic protection...polishes to 'WET-LOOK' shine and locks into the paint, seals and protects with an elastic non-chip, shrink-prook, heat and scratch resistant acrylic finish...6-8 months protection against salt water, sun, industrial pollutants and corrosive elements."

The "High Gloss Selant Glaze" (silver bottle) carries the following info: "Non-abrasive; rustproof seal;UV filter; Acrylic protective shield against corrosive elements; non-chip elastic finish...shrink proof;, heat and scratch resistant acrylic seal against oxidation, road salts, salt water, sun, industriao pollutants and corrosive elements...provides an excepionally brilliant 'WET-LOOK' shine for up to 12 months..." Whaddayathink?

I've used both Klasse and recently, Mcguires (2-26-34). I ordered the Klasse from CA and it was very expensive. It did give my cars a great shine, however. I just started using Mcguires formulas and am happier with them than the Klasse. For one thing with the Klasse after a rain, the car is full of water spont. With Mcguires, the water beads up and dissipates leaving no water marks. I did boo-boo this week, while out of town, and parked under a tree all night. THe birds had a party on my MB. Unfortunately, the doo-doo did not bead up and dissipate quite as easily!

I have found Klasse for sale in Greensboro, North Carolina at a Ferrari/Alfa/Porsche dealership. It is fairly expensive at 20 bucks a bottle, but I was given one of the red bottles of polish. It made the paint ultra smooth, but did not seem to protect well. The paint felt "naked" in the sense it had no protection. It also only works on good condition paint, it cannot be oxidized or rough in any way or the finish will appear hazy and uneven.

From first hand knowledge, Klasse is a polish formula for aircraft. The company's number one client is Gulfstream Airlines out of Savannah Ga. It contains no waxes because it Acrylic. It's similar to polishing your car with water!

At least in theory, Klasse removes surface oxidation (at least, that's what it says on the bottle) and is intended to be used on oxidized surfaces prior to applying the stuff in the silver bottle. You should rub until the oxidation has been reduced to your satisfaction (I conclude that this works for little to moderately oxidized surfaces: severly oxidized surfaces would probably need some other more intense remedy). My experience in similar to yours in the sense that the product leaves the paint or clearcoat surface ultrasmooth. I don't think, however, that this results from the surface being left bare, but rather results from a combination of surface oxidation removal and the acrylic coating left behind. Application of the silver bottle leaves behind an additional, shinier acrylic surface. I use Klasse on my three cars (two with clearcoats) and am as happy as a clam. My cars ('77 6.9; '87 16v; 92 500E) shine like crazy and garner lots of compliments. Sometimes a car will get very dirty (e.g., two months without washing, sitting outside, uncovered). But a quick wash ( I use meguiars gold class shampoo) and the brilliance comes right back. I also believe that Klasse provides a measure of UV protection.

Believe me. I had used Zymol, Meguiars, the best waxes I could find. The amount of effort required to achieve a nice shine/surface that would last more than week just wasn't worth it. And I'm not going back.
