I own a 99 CLK. The black trim below the side windows does'nt look like it's painted or black chrome. I swear its like bluing used on guns. I've waxed it but after I wash it appears to have a film on it. Any suggestions?

That trim is annodized aluminum. As it ages it will begin turning lighter until it almost looks like chrome. (check out the strip on the A pillar of a W124 or the B pillar of a W140 to see what I mean. You can wax it but going over it with Flitz works best. Flitz is a metal polish, can be found in Ace Hardware and some shopping/department stores. I polish the annodized trim on my car about once every 6 months but just wax over it the rest of the time.
Hope this helps...Lee |
