95 E320, w/black dash
What are the best products to clean and protect the dash (black). I have started to notice what appears to heat spot damage. I have not used anything to date, especially a product like armour-all. I detest a shiny dash!! thanks..jim |

Jim,
I have used 2 products with great results on a black dash. My favorite is Vinylex by Lexol. It gives a nice "new car" shine and is suppose to be made out of a "sunscreen" type product. I have also had good luck with Meguiars Vinyl cleaner in both the "Mercedes Benz black bottles" and also the Walmart red bottles. If I had to throw in a third one....I would say Dash Wax was ok. I hope this helps! Mike ------------------ 1986 300E 138k MBCA Concours Judge Board Member - Western Reserve Section |

I would highly recommend Vinylex by Lexol. It goes both ways. Spray on a rag, wipe the dash and any plastic, flip rag, buff off. If you just wipe and leave it Vinylex will leave a wet look, if you buff off it will leave a patina. The color will deepen, but it wont be shiny given some buffing. Tip: after your done with the dash take a paper towel with some Windex/glass cleaner and clean the bottom of your windshield. It is quite easy to get some Vinylex on the bottom of the windshield when applying to the dash.
Hope this helps...Lee |
