Sorry, this isn't specifically a detailing question, but it seems like the right group to ask.

I have a 1983 380SEL, and would like to replace the factory standard shift handle with one of those nice wood ones.

Problem is, everywhere I see them advertised, they say they're "available in Burl or Zebrano."

I must not be too experienced in my woods - I have no idea which one I have. It just looks like pretty wood to me...

Could anyone tell me based on my model/year, or at least point me to a website with color pictures of the two types of wood?

And once I figure that out, does anyone have a recommendation as to where to get a good quality shift knob? So far I have found ones at Adsit (www.adsitco.com).

Zebrano is the lighter color wood with a straight, uniform grain. (tan)

Burl is usually darker and richer. It also has a deeper grain to it.

If your looking for OEM applications then fill out a PartsShop request form.

Hope this helps...Lee
