I have a 1977 300D, she has 323,000 mi. on her.Runs great , body is excellent.But the rubber on the trim peices need to be restored.Can I use something on them?
Or must they be replaced.

That is really hard to say without seeing them firsthand. If the rubber is just faded, then you can dress it up and make it look mostly new. If it is warped, cracked, etc then it is time for replacement.

At the car's age I wouldn't be suprised if they needed replacement but here is a good way to try and dress them up. If it fails, you are not out a whole lot...

Wash car/areas as normal with top quality car wash. (Zymol, M's Gold Class wash, etc) Once dried, apply some windex to the rubber on a paper towel. Buff until you get no more black residue on the paper towel. Once you can go over the rubber trim without getting any black residue on the towel give the trim a once over with Vinylex by Lexol. Leave the single coat of Vinylex on for a shiny look, buff for a patina.
