Is it possible to remove fine scatches from burl veneer? Previous postings have suggested using Meguiar's #9. Does it really work or am I asking for trouble? Also do you recommend routine protection of veneer with say Meguiar's Mirror Glaze #26?

I would first try some #7 before the #9 but in either case be VERY VERY gentle to that veneer. Yes the #26 will be a great way to protect your hard work once your done. Just be gentle as possible and use only 100% cotton (including the threads) cloth in this endeavor.
Hope this helps...Lee |

My SD's wood trim has some deposits of what appears to be glue from a previous repair attempt. (I was able to find Meguiar's #7 and #26 at a local auto parts store.)
Will the #7 remove this or do I need to get the adhesive residue off first? I'm thinking 3M adhesive remover (100% naptha) but I'm hesitant. I don't want to cloud up the finish on the wood unless the #7 will polish it back to "good as new". Thanks in advance, ------------------ Robert W. Roe 1984 300SD 165K miles |

I would certainly pass on the adhesive remover. You will get rid of the glue but likely do more damage to the rest of the wood. Give #7 a try on the wood, it should remove most everything but swirl marks/scratches. A coat of #26 should protect. The Meguiar's #9 Swirl Remover should take care of swirl/scratches. If you can't find (and still need) the #9 let me know and we may be able to help.
