I know this sounds petty, but I like my car to look 'pefect'!!

I have a leather shift knob with a clear plastic insert on top. The insert shows the MB star.

I got a slight scratch on the clear plastic top. Because it's glossy and catches the light, my eye always spots the new flaw.

Is there a way to remove/reduce the scratch without damaging the glossy plastic? I don't want to replace it just yet.

You can try Meguiar's plastic polish for the insert. For light scratches (perhaps the kind a ring, fingernail, etc may cause) it should help. If that does not work there may be other things that are more risky.

As per a previous PartsShop inquiry (#209), the plastic insert is not available by itself. You could check with Benzmac to see if the shifter/insert are intact on that totaled C36. Also call around to local dealerships/independents and see if anyone has an extra one laying around.

Hope this helps...Lee

I bought the Meguiar's plastic cleaner and it worked great! Thanks for the tip, Lee!
