Cleaning Door Trim

I have a 98 CLK. On the bottom of the doors and around the speakers is a felt-like fabric material. Of course, when people get into my nice car, their shoes rub or kick against this material and leave marks.

What is a safe way to clean this stuff? I'm afraid to rub it with anything.

First, try to remove the marks with a soft brush.

If that fails then try to find some TECH STAIN REMOVER. It is made by Tech Enterprises in Madison, Wisc. You can find it at Ace Hardware or any place that sells carpet. It comes in a white plastic squirt bottle with red lettering on it.

Basically you need to treat this area as you would carpet, clothing or upholstery. After you get the area clean and dry you might coat it in 3M Scothgard to resist future staining. Whenever I buy a new car, one of the first things I do is to coat all of the carpet and fabric in the car with Scotchgard.
