Leather Creaks

I have a 98 CLK320 and the leather seats creak as I drive the car. Some suggest using silicone, but I don't want to harm or stain the leather or plastic. I have Maguiar's Leather Conditioner. Can I use this for the creaks?

If the leather is just a little bit noisy then the Meguiar's will help. You can also try some Lexol Leather conditioner. Or if you really want the best leather conditioner try some Lederbalsam. Any of the above should take care of it. Whatever you do, avoid the silicone on the leather.

I found the problem (But not the cure). The seats are leather enclosed by a hard plastic frame. When you sit down the leather on the side of the seat is pushed against the rim of the plastic and creaks whenever the car moves up or down. I don't think conditioner will help here. I'm also concerned that the leather will wear from rubbing this plastic trim. Any ideas? I never expected to have so many interior noises from an MB!!

Can you possibly glue a piece of felt onto the plastic where it contacts the leather? Perhaps use some felt that is similar to the color of the plastic so it isn't noticeable.

I'll second the Webmaster's idea on that one. Give the glued felt solution a try. You may also want to bring up the creaking seat problem to your dealership. They may be helpful, if not nothing lost...

It's going to be hard to glue in felt because some of the clearances are very tight. I'm also concerned that it would be unsightly.

I mentioned it once to my dealer and they replied that many cars creak nowadays. I think it would be better to either move the plastic further out or cut/sand some of it to increase the clearance, but that would involve taking the seat apart...too complex for me.

I have a friend that owns a 98 CLK230.After a few months of use ,she found exactly the same problem.Then she made complaints to the Mercedes dealer and had the seating leather cushion replaced with free of charge.So,If your car is still under warranty(I believe it is),you should try the same way that she did since I am sure that's the best way to solve it out!!!
