The wood dash lacquer has had it (almost 30 years old), but the wood seems OK. Any advice out on sanding and re-lacquering? I'm in Phoenix, and interior car temps can shoot past 250 deg. in the summer. I've heard the recommendation to use marine lacquer due to the extreme nature of our climate - does this sound legitimate?

I'd recommend that you send it out to be refinished...it'd probably set you back only $75-$100 and save you untold hassle. I know of a company called Heritage Woodworks does it; let me know if you need address info.

Would I send the entire dash, or does the wood panel separate from it? I haven't taken a good look to answer that for myself since I was planning on doing the work, but if the results would be that much better, I may have the work done. Please include contact information and thanks for your help!
