Hi. All of you know that Meguiar's has prepared the detailing kit for M-Benz. You know the ones that come in this bucket(shampoo, paint care, wheel cleaner, etc...). I know they are really excellent except that it costs about $100. I need to know if I can get that kind of excellent outcome if I use Meguiar's detailing products off the counter. Is there any difference between the off-the-counter Meguiar's and special M-Benz cleaning kit prepared by the Meguirar's.. SOrry if I made a lot of typos.... it's 6 30 am here and i stayed up all nite... good nite. Thanks ...

Hello again!!!

Actually, you shoud be aware that if you buy Maguiar stuff from MB you will now be lining the coffers of two companies (if not more), than if you buy these things off the counter. Do the comparison by going down to your local AutoZone, PepBoys, Walmart, whatever, and then do the math.

Buying anything with a "middle man" is going to increase the price, since the middle man will attach his own handling costs and profit onto the original item.

THIS IS THE AMERICAN WAY. If you want to buy convenience, buy from MB dealers as a package. But then you might be getting things you don't want or need, too.

So, take the initiative, and buy what you need at the best price, not a package that was assembled by someone else.....Andras

The stuff sold at the MB dealer is no better than the Meguiar's products sold at automotive stores.
Here are the Meguiar's products I personally use on my '98 E430 and highly recommend:

Gold Class Wash

Professional #9 Swirl Remover

Professional #7 Show Car Glaze

Professional #26 Hi-Tech Yellow Wax

Quick Detailer

Dear webmaster,

I love those pictures...that was really nice of you to post pics... Okie, I guess i will be buying those products at local stores... I was wondering when you would use the "professional #7 show car Glaze." Do you use it right after you wash your car? One more thing.. the yellow wax---is this just spray on and wipe'em with towels? Or it is to be used with professional orbital buffer?? Thanks again..

Use these products in the same order as the pictures are shown above. With a new car you may not need the swirl remover at all.

The Show Car Glaze should be the last thing you apply before you wax.

The swirl remover, show car glaze and wax can all be applied by hand or buffer. If you apply by hand simply apply the product to an applicator pad and rub into the finish. Remove with a 100% cotton terrycloth towel.

Webmaster,

When I consulted Meguiars free RX, it recommended:

Gold Class Coat Prep and Swirl Reducer

Deep Crystal System Polish

Gold Class Clear Coat Polish

How do these differ from the items you've listed here? Which would you recommend?
Also, any opinion on the Medallion Premium Paint Protection?

Thanks in advance,
Z

All of the "numbered" products I recommended are in Meguiar's Professional line (beige colored bottles). None of the professional products seem to be included in their RX program from what I have seen.
The Gold Class products and all of the products in red bottles such as Deep Crystal are consumer products. That doesn't mean they are bad in fact I believe some of the products are the same. I have always gotten great results with the professional products and have had little reason to change. I have used the Gold Class wax and it works great even though I like 'ole #26.
Another point, even though Meguiar's makes a combination polish and wax in their consumer line, I would avoid combination products. Buy a dedicated polish to polish and a dedicated wax to wax.

Thanks for your reply!
I guess I just stick with the Gold class since its probably not good to keep switching products.
Thanks again.
