Hi. I have a couple of door dings and some more in other areas thanks to those reckless drivers... Well..I was wondering how much you guys pay at your local shop... i always pay $300/ding if not more... Kinda outrageous.. They always tell me they have to repaint the ding area... I dont' trust them because some door ding doctors don't even have to paint it... WONDER WHY BODY SHOPS ALWAYS TRIED TO RIP YOU OFF.... NEVER SEEN AN HONEST PERSON AT A BODY SHOP>>INSURANCE FRAUD ETC>>>>>

I had a paintless ding removal and it cost about $150. It was on a door crease so it took a lot of work.

I had two dings removed at 50 bucks apiece, so a total of 100 dollars. They were average size door dings, and they were removed paintlessly. This guy is amazing, I never thought he could remove one of them without hurting the paint, but I can honestly not tell where the dent was. Amazing!

The method these guys are referring to is "paintelss dent removal", usually done by Dent Wizard.

Look them up in the Yellow Pages, and also by calling your local expensive car dealers. Here in Columbus Ohio the local Porsche, MB, Volvo, BMW, etc etc. all use them to recondition their cars prior to putting the cars back on the used car lot.

The Dent Wizards work by "spooning" the metal back, slowly and patiently from behind. However, there are limitations: if they can't get behind the ding or if the ding is on or near a crease, it might be impossible to work out using their methods. They will tell you if they can help or not.

In general they do work, and they do not crack the paint. But don't pay them until they finish their work and you are satisfied. There are MANY satisfied customers....Andras

If paintwork needs to be done, my local guy charges around $400/panel to take it down to primer, make the panel perfect, then shoot it with 9 coats of OE paint. If the dents are beyond the midway point on a panel, they feather into the adjacent panel and charge for that panel too.

Not cheap, but the work's beyond reproach.
