On my bonnet I seem to have lots of little black specks... i used a careful fingernail to remove one, and it sort of 'snapped' off, and left a small rust coloured blob underneath. The specs are perhaps smaller than a grain of sand. Any ideas about what to do with these? Clay? Cutting polish? Small dab of paint? They seem almost like brake dust 'pits'

Also, any ideas how to easily remove the bonnet... might aswell bring it indoors!

Brian, mark the area around the hood hinges on both sides (for alignment when reattaching. You'll need to get someone to help you with this job. Loosen and remove the hinge to hood attaching bolts and walk the hood off of the car. Keep in mind that you will also have to disconnect washer hoses and nozzle heater wires and any other attachments to get the hood off of the car. Putting it back on is basically the reverse of removal. Line up the marks you made and tighten down the attachment bolts.. Goos luck The brother"hood" is with you..

Thanks! I might just leave it on the car for this... I dont want it to be a nightmare to reattach. The rest of the car is looking beautiful by the way ;-)

On the stone chips/marks, I suppose its my fault for driving 100 miles every day at 95mph in the fast lane of British Motorway!
