What do you use on the red circled area?

I used Meguiars Trim Detailer, but I found that it is for black rubber and plastic.

An additional question. What do you use on the silvery parts on top of bumpers?
(I used Meguiars Trim Detailer on them, too.)

Sorry for using suginami's picture without permission. My 1992 300D has white paint and gray lower plastic panels.

Always nice to see pics of my car. :)

The bottom portions are painted, just like the rest of the car.

I use the same polishes and waxes I normally use.

I use Meguiar's Cleaner/Wax on the lower cladding. It does a fine job removing road grime and tar. For the rest of the car I use Griot's Garage Polish and Carnauba Wax.

To tell you the truth, I do use different products on the lower body cladding than I use on the rest of the car.

The body cladding has a matte finish, so using high gloss products aren't very meaningful.

I therefore use the strongest / longest lasting product I am aware of: Meguiar's #10 Polymer Sealant. Goes on real easy, and wipes off like powder.

For the rest of the car, I am now using Meguiar's Next Generation MXT Tech Wax. It is a synthetically engineered polymer sealant.

Thanks for your replies. I did not know they were painted.

I had a Mequiars person see this post. He said it was not clear from the picture what the lower panels are made of. He said that the Meguiars Gold Class Trim Detailer works well on Unpainted plastic no matter whether it is black or not.

I will try wax on the lower panels at next exterior detail.
