I have the Porter Cable 7424 buffer that has been so highly recommended here. There are six speed settings which vary from 2500 to 6000 rpm. What speed setting should be used for swirl removing with Mequiar's #9 and what about when polishing with Meguiar's #7 Show Car Glaze? At setting #6 the buffer really hums but seems like that might be too fast. Setting #1 seems like it might be too slow. What have you experienced users found for the optimal setting?

I have one. Meguiars website had/has a video tutorial which suggested a setting of 4.5. So I have been using 4.5 and I have no problems with that setting. Not sure if the tutorial is still there.
