I have a G500 and recently had to replace the windshield due to deep scratches, presumably from a stone chips caught on the wiper blades. I've was very surprised at how easily the glass had scratched as I have never had this problem with other vehicles.Mercedes confided that they use a very soft glass. Now, I noticed several cloud-like hazy areas that are not raised but will not come out with window cleaners and elbow grease. I even tried a glass polish sold by Griot's.I have no idea what caused this but they are very noticeable in direct sun. I would like to try the toothpaste/Bon Ami tip posted earlier but am concerned that the soft glass will be scratched. Are these techniques safe? Should I take it to a professional glass shop?

Try the BonAmi or toothpaste trick on a small portion (say...as big as the tip of your finger) and see what happens. If no luck or effects, call a pro.
Hope this helps...Lee |
