Bumper Scratch repair - painted bumper covers

Hi All,

I recently noted about a 2" x 2" scrape on the corner of my front bumper, it appears the wife did a little "parking by touch" next to a pole or something. Anyway, using regular Meguiars Cleaner Wax I was able to remove the white paint that was embedded in the plastic bumper cover, but the surface of the plastic is still rough and dull. Fortunately the scrape was superficial enough that no scratches penetrated beynod the color layer of the plastic.

I've tried wet sanding the area with 1000 grit sandpaper but that didn't really have much of an effect - is there an easier way to buff out the damaged area of the plastic? Thanks
