Car: 87 300SDL, 125K
My car is in the body shop at the moment, getting a Ford Escort extracted from the right front corner. Before this is over, someone will be painting the hood, bumper cover and right fender with grey pearl metallic clearcoat. How closely can I expect the new paint to match the old? Should I negotiate a complete paint job? Please advise me. Tom Kanis Cincinnati, OH |

i had a little evil cenivle stunt with a tahoe and had to have my front end painted my car was black and the clearcoat was gone so i had it re done youd be spurised how much of a diffrence it makes and if you do get it painted make sure you go over the car with a fine tooth and com and look for any bumps in the paint this is rust and get ride of itjust my 2 cents

Look deeply into the finish at the orange peel once everything's done. Look at the reflections...you should be able to see the same amount of detail in the factory and paintshop panels. Also make sure the bodyshop goes over the car to minimize the spray lines.
Hope this helps...Lee |
