This is the "downer" story to my post "BEAUTIFUL". And to think I went to college for my degree in mechanical engineering.
Prior to washing my car, I sprayed Meguiar's wheel cleaner on my wheels and painted calipers. As I was chatting with a neighbor and rinsing the wheels, I noticed some coloration on the polished lips. Oh SH@#!!! -- stained/etched. Back into the garage to read the bottle; yep, right there on the front label, "Not For Use On Bare Polished Aluminum" DOHHH!!! Luckily I had the receipt, so I exchanged it for a tub of Mother's Metal Polish. An hour later the polished lips were (almost, not quite) good as new. WHEW! Lesson learned: ALWAYS read the product label in detail; never assume the title says it all (read: Wheel Cleaner). Better yet, run the product past members of this forum for advice on it and how you intend to use it. Chances are someone has already done what you're about to do.
