What's the best way to glue wood trim veneer to the metal backing. My 300SD has a couple of loose spots.

Mr. BILL:

You might want to try Cyanoacrylate (Super Glue) -- make sure you get the "gel" type as it is less runny than the liquid. You can get it at most any hobby shop.

Use the superglue very sparingly. I have found that the fumes it produces can fog adjacent plastic and it a bummer to try and get off.

Mr Bill

My best results were time consuming but worked well (Hey, it's a Mercedes!).
You need 3M Adhesive, Tar & Wax Remover Cat 03607 and 3M double faced trim tape.

First, clean the black foam from the metal. Scrape with a razor blade then clean with the Adhesive Remover.

Second, do the same thing with the wood being careful not to dig into the wood. Be careful with the remover so it doesn't get on the finish, I put it on a rag and worked it like mad. I also used fine steel wool with the adhesive. After it is good and dry (I waited a full day) apply the tape to either surface and then position and press the parts together. Be sure to carefuly position the parts before you apply pressure because the tape is strong. I did the front of the ash tray and it is holding very well. I doubt Crazy Glue would work as well.
