What's the best way to remove glued on Terk XM antenna from trunk lid?
Hello all,
I am installing a new XM radio and antenna and need to remove the old and larger Terk antenna. It was installed by Best Buy on the trunk lid and it seems like they used some pretty adhesive glue. What's the best way to remove it without causing damage to the paint? Thanks in advance!

Best thing to do is contact Best Buy and ask them the best way to remove the glue. It's best to be safe than sorry (notice how manytimes I used "best"? )

I'll likely call the guy that detailed my car after getting some body work done earlier this year. My experience with the guys at Best Buy is that they probably don't have a collective IQ more than 50 between them. It took them eight months to get the install right, so I don't think they'll be much help. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Stefano,
If you go to an autoparts store, they should have 3m adhesive remover in a small can. Get a small paint brush and dab the remover around the old antenna until it becomes loose-- usually in about 5 to 10 minutes. This will not harm the paint , but will remove the wax in area applied. Good luck Reagrds, Perry Fisher |
