Hello guys. How are you? I washed my floor mats today=). Well, I just want to know if I did this properly. I just soaked the carpets in lukewarm water and used your typical bathroom soap(irish spring). Then, I rinsed them and I am in the process of drying them under the sun. Anything wrong with what I did? Are there any better ways to do it? Give me your advice. Thanks again for your time.

I don't know. I've never done it like that. Usually I do it once a year with a steam cleaner. When the guys come to clean the carpets in my apartment I usually ask them and the do the floor mats for free. I think most detailers use something like a steam cleaner or more of a dry clean. I guess if they look ok once they are dry then no harm done. I can't really see what you've done harming the mats in any way.

Just gotta make sure you get ALL the soap out, as it will actually attract dirt very very quickly if not completely rinsed. Steam-cleaning does not present this problem.

420SEL & makakio,

Hello guys. Thank you very much for your inputs. Yeah, I rinsed them like 5 times because the mats were really dirty=). Thank you for your concern. I just went out to check on the mats and they do look very clean to me. I think i did better than my local detailers..hehe.. Thank you again for your comments and suggestions. You guys have a great weekend! Take care.

PS: I don't have anyone who will clean them for free=) I have to do it myself... oh well..
