Just wanted to throw in my detailing tips for those of you who are interested. My polish of choice of course is Zaino and can be found at http://www.zainobros.com.
The first time I treat a car with Zaino I wash the car first using Dawn dishwashing liquid soap. The reason for this is that Dawn is high in alkaline which will strip any old wax off. Do not make a habbit of using this as a regular car wash as it will just strip the wax off after you apply it, plus it can cause damage after repeated use without applying wax afterwards. I make sure any bugs, debris, and dirt is clean and clear of the car. Then I use Mothers Clay (red bar) and clay the entire car over always keeping the area I'm claying wet with Dawn and water. After the car is squeeky clean from the clay, I'll wash the car again with Dawn then dry the car using a dry 100% Cotton Made in the USA towl. It's important that the towls you use be 100% made in the USA as even though some 100% cotton towls made out of the US state they are 100%, they actually have a mixture of other materials that will cause swirl marks. After the car is completely dry and free of water spots, dirt etc. I apply the first coat of Z1 with an orbital buffer. Now a lot of people say using a buffer can damage the car and they apply the wax by hand. Buffers will only damage the car if used improperly. Applying too much presure to the car as you are applying the wax will damage the paint in some cases but in general you shouldn't have any worries. Waxing by hand is a total waste of time and effort as wax needs heat to bond with the molucules on your cars finish and the human hand (no matter how strong you are) cannot creat the proper amount needed to bond the wax with the cars finish. Depending on how many swirl marks the car has, I'll usually apply 2-3 coats of Z5. Remember that you can apply as many coats of Z5 or Z2, whatever you feel good with by looking at the car will work fine. After the swirl marks have disapeared I'll finish up with 2-3 coats of Z2 polish. Each time I remove a coat of Z5 or Z2 I'll go over the car with the Zaino Gloss Enhancer Z6. This gives the car a 3-demensional look and a really deep mirror like gloss. I hope this helps anyone out as I highly recommend the Zaino brand products. I had been an avid Meguiars user for over 10 years and was skeptical about Zainos but once I saw the results I threw the Meguiars out and haven't looked back. Hello Bill, just bought and received Zaino products to use on new black SL. Tried all different waxes last year, Meguiars, Zymo, Ibiz, etc., all left hazing no matter how hard I tried. looking forward to "stripping and claying" car and trying Zaino system.
