Hello. Thanks for reading my post. Well, I would like to know what material(terry towel, pad, paper towel, etc) I can safely use to apply "High Gloss Tire Shine" dressing solution to my tires? Any suggestions? Thank you again for your help.

I use a sponge. I apply the tire dressing to the sponge, and wipe it around the tire.

This seems to work OK, and avoids the tire dressing going all over the wheels.

Oliverp,

Hello. Thank you for your reply. I appreciate it. Oh i see.. Are you able to get all tire dressing off of sponge when you wash the sponge? I was afraid it might stay there permanently(i think tire dressing is water resistant). Thanks again for your help.

I have one sponge for tire dressing. I don't really clean it to be honest. The only thing to watch out for, is that your hands get really dirty!!
I have used the same sponge for months, and I still get the same results. The sponge looks filthy, but it doesn't seem to make any difference.

Oliver,
Hello. Thanks you for checking back. Oh yeah.. I guess I should have one sponge just for tire dressing. This way, I don't have to clean it too hard=). Well, thanks for your sound advice. I will give it a try! Have a nice day~

I've been REEALLY impressed with Meguiar's Tire Protectant Gel - Endurance, I think it's called. See advertisement above. It comes with a sponge applicator and goes on easily. and it LASTS. It doesn't turn brown like the other brands. Try it, you'll like it.

Well I guess I'm going to give away my lack of detail puritanism.

I use the spray on tire foam; NoTouch, ArmorAll Tire Foam, etc. If you're careful, I get very little on the clean wheel, and it doesn't hurt anything when you do as long as the wheel is clean.

It probably takes about 60 seconds to walk around the car and carefully spray it on. You can even spray it on wet tires, although I rarely do that. With my limited time, this helps me alot, I can spend what time I have to hand wash the car instead of bead blasting it at the self service car wash.

Have a great day,
Larry

LarryBible,

Hello. How is it going? Well, I hope. Thank you for your input. I agree with you. That can save a lot of time and also, I would rather spend more time on polishing and detailing than working on tires=). I will keep that in mind. Thank you and others for the help you've provided me with. This forum is just great~ Well, I wish you a wonderful weekend. Take care.

Hey guys,

Forget about Meguiars and other foam tire dressings...If you want the best out there, use Black Magic's Tire Wet. This stuff is awesome, and i've been using it for years. Trust me--you wont go back to anything else after you've tried it. Spray it on, or either pour some into a container and use a 3-4 inch paint brush to apply it.

A simple trick for those of us with little patience -- make a cardboard cutout the same diameter as your rims. Cover it with plastic and screw a piece of wood in the middle (handle). Stick it up there against your rim and spray away.

Good luck!

AMGCKlass,

Here is what I do;

1. Spray the tire and wheel (chrome) with Simple Green diluted to 10:1 (I would use some other wheel cleaner for anything other than chrome). Clean the wheel with a nylon bristle brush. Then scrub the tire with a metal bristle (copper or stainless) brush until my hands hurt (j/k) and rinse. Important, don't let any cleaner dry on the wheel, if the wheel and tire are hot (like after driving) then make sure to rinse with plenty of water before staring.

2. Wash and dry car.

3. Dry each wheel with a old cotton towel and then switch to another towel to finish pat drying the tires.

4. Detail car to pass time, if doing.

5. If you can find the plastic shields that some auto parts stores carry, they are worth it! If not the cardboard works, but only for several washes/apply cycles. Spray tire dressing, let set for 15 min., spray and let set again if you have the time. Then use the sponge method mention earlier and spread evenly and thats it.

If you are using endurance which last longer than the rest, then apply with the included sponge. I prefer Black Magic though, because Megiur's is not as shiny, but you have to apply every wash. Endurance will go 3-4 weeks.

Well, there you have it, hope this is of use!
