i got a touch-up stick yesterday, and i was wondering... what's the best way to strip wax from the scratches i want to fix before applying the paint?

I am a novice on paint job, but this is what I do.

I use paper towel or cotton shop towel wet with Meguiars Extra, then towel wet with water, and then dry towel. Then blow air from air duster (the compressed air can available at computer parts store) to blow out moisture.
Dedicated paint preparation material, e.g. Pre , will do better job than Meguiars Extra but I have no experience with such paint prepping material.

When I need scraping, I use sand paper or fiberglass rust brush.

When I need smaller brush than the brush attached to the cap of the Touch Up Paint, I use Touch Up Applicator.

When I see rust, I remove loose rust and then treat the area with RustBullet (I heard good thing about POR-15 on this forum, but I find that the application process is easier with RustBullet.). After 24 hours, I top coat with Touch Up Paint. (If you use POR-15, Touch UP Paint will not adhere well on top of POR-15 unless you sand it.)

p.s.
POR-15 Starter Kit includes a cleaner that will remove wax and grease.
