Try Resolve carpet cleaner for the stains. It is available in the house cleaning section of stores like Walmart. Since you have oil stains don't expect it to come out on the first attempt.

For general cleaning I prefer to use a dry foam type of cleaner. I use Electrolux brand since I have an Electrolux carpet cleaner.

As mentioned above, dont expect it to come out right away... soak the stains for a while in a good cleaner, brush at them, and just let them soak.

I have had great success in pressure washing my carpets...

First off I vacuum the carpeting REALLY well, then take your floormats to a coin-op car wash, and mount your floormats in the little clips that are usually on the walls, and pressure wash away! Dont spray too close tot he carpet though, as you might damage the looping. In your case, id vacuuum throughly, soak the stains, then pressure wash. Use a brush while your washing them to loosen imbedded dirt.

Nice tip about using a pressure wash. Since I have not been to one of these in many a year, what setting did you use for the mats? I mean, hot and soapy? or what?...hehe...if there are different settings.

ZEP and Shop Vac

I had an awful mess of grease on my carpet after visiting the repair shop. I used ZEP Carpet Cleaner from Home Depot and it was AMAZING. That stuff takes out anything!

Another tip is to use a shop wet/dry vacuum to suck the carpet cleaner-saturated mess right out of the carpets.

The pressure washer thing works, but sometimes the carpets will get warped and lose some of their shape if you get them too wet.
