convetible top restoration

While restoring our 380SL, the soft top is in great shape, except that the rubber gaskets around the windows and along the front need to be replaced. I can find replacement gaskets, but need to find out how to remove the old ones and what kind of adhesives and prep to use to replace them? Is this a job to tackle on our own? We're pretty handy....... Any help apppreciated!
