Replacing the wood trim with plastic?
Does any one make plastic replacments for the very expensive wood trim on M.B's that looks as good?

I've seen some of these parts on various websites for newer MB's only. I've been playing around with making "faux" burlwood and Zebrano instrument clusters for 107's. This is done with three-dimensional printing, paint, and urethane on used clusters. I did some research on veneers, etc and Zebrawood might be the WORST veneer/wood you could stick in a car. It dries, it's very difficult to plane, and is brittle. No wonder it doesn't seem to last as a veneer. I'm fairly confident that this three-dimensional printing technique will last much longer while passing for wood except upon close inspection.
If you look at my web page, you will see what 1980's clear finish looks like after 25 years! Hard to beleive.
