I saw some swirl marks on my Black MB and wanted to know whether I can just apply a swirl mark remover without waxing the car? I guess, the question is what is the best way to do this?

Thanks.

I would suggest a good polish, or Macguire's swirl remover. Also, do a search of this forum for "swirl marks," I'm sure I have seen posts on this before. You might find some good ideas there.

Read Lee's Detailing FAQ in the D.I.Y section of MercedesShop.

You can do it that way, but a polish and wax are different.

If you use Meguiars swirl remover (which is a polish) yes it will get out the swirl marks, but you will be left with little to no protection, better to wax it afterwards. Also, wax helps to prevent swirl marks.

Do you regret getting that car in black because I have a white MB on order and I was debating on getting the car in black or white, was it worth it or is taking care of the car a real hassle?

I have a black, brown, and tan color MB. I like the black the most. The other colors are just weird in todays modern color cars.

I like black outside and gray interior cars. I think its worth it. Yes it is more work. Dirt and swirls are easier to see. Also if you repaint it, they have to do a real good job preping, matching, etc. it, otherwise it will show over the new paint more easier than lighter color car. Anyway, in my opinion, its worth it. This is an opinionated question, so answers will vary.

My CLK is obsidian black(special order from factory) with oyster gray interior. It looks beautiful and I receive many compliments. It does show dirt easily, but I have no regrets.

Cool, is the obsidian black the black that looks like it has a charcoal or slight glittery look?

I don't regret getting the black. I just wished I shelled out for the special order black opal, since that's metallic and would probably hide the swirls a bit more. My last two vehicles have been black. I love the black and tan/java interior. The dark outside and light inside gives it more of a contrast. On my next car, I'll get the metallic paint.

The obsidian black is metallic, but boes not have the bluish hue of black opal. It is a standard available color on the S class. It stills shows swirls if one is not careful. It looks beautiful.
