Over here on Long Island N.Y, its about on average 40 degrees. Is it too cold to wax? The cold does not bother me (hehe I go fishing all year round and love the cold) however can it harm the wax.? Thanks in Advance.

I'd think that temperatures less than about 40 or 50 degrees would present some problems for a car detailer. Car washing becomes a chore, because the water temperature is going to be below the ambient air temperature, and the evaporation of water will drop the paint temperature several more degrees below that. Then drying becomes a chore, because then water starts to become "persistent," and waxing becomes a chore because the wax takes forever to bond. I love fall and winter, but I hate washing/waxing during this time of year.

If you're going to wax your car, try to find a heated garage. I've read that the optimal temperature for waxing is when the paint is around 70 degrees or so.

have fun!

Yes, its too cold.

If you really really want to wax anyway. Try to do it inside a garage with a heater that can raise the temp to about 50. Make sure you allow enough drying time. At that temp, I would guess 30 minutes, it really depends on what your using, humidity, etc.
