So nice to discover this when washing your car
At some point someone rubbed up against the driver side door and left a patch of surface scratches in the paint about 6" square. It's just under the door handle and very easily visible. It was hidden by lots of road salt from recent snow here in the NE.
Just plain sucks. I wish people could either learn to drive or learn how to write a note with their contact info when they hit your car!

Try some light swirl remover, like Meguiars #9 or #82 and see if that helps. We once had some scuffing that ran across a couple of door panels on the pass. side of the '91, and a couple passes with #82 took care of most of it.

Thanks, I think something like that will work. I'll have to wait 'till it gets a bit warmer though. I'll post results.

I hear you. When I washed the car I discovered that someone had either keyed the car or hit against it with a shopping cart of something. The line is on the rear quarter panel about a foot long.
Polish won't work since I can see the primer. |

I would first try a mild polish.
If that doesn't remove the marks you may need to step up in polishing power like Apply a quarter size dab to a microfiber applicator and rub in horizontal lines (back and forth). Inspect after wiping off polish. If defects are not removed repeat steps with the pb polish. Then finish with a glaze polishto finish the corrective action. Once the paint is swirl free protect with your wax or sealant.
