I made the mistake of using Armor All several times before hearing that it was bad news for dashboards and vinyl. I have a bottle of TurtleWax 2001 SuperProtectant, which is supposed to be safe for practically any surface ... then again, AA says the same thing. Is this stuff silicone based? Is it damaging like AA?

Have been using the same Turtle-wax product for over a year and am extremely happy with it. Especially with the fact that it smells a bit like leather. Not sure however what the long term effect is on vinyl and rubber.

Turtle-Wax discontinued it recently and came out with a replacement that carries a different name. I think its called F21 something. It appears however to be the same product. Their Web site states that Formula 2001 contains teh following:

"A special ingredient — Triliconeä, a unique blend of three high-tech silicone chemistries, makes Extreme 2001 Premium Protectant one of the most unique, high-tech protectants on the market"

Not being a Chemist I have no idea what this means, but it does appear as if it contains Silicon. I am not sure however if this is good, or bad.

OK, I used the 303 on the Top for my SL & LOVED the RESULT, although the overspray is terrible to remove. AND I just ordered their Fabric protector for my new Escape.

So What you're saying is to use the regular Protectant on the dash.

What about in the SL, I've been applying Mequirs Leather conditioner (LOTS).
Would 303 be better ??

And how about for the new Escape, "I just don't think thats Leather" :=}

303 is what you need. It has UV-protectant and is made for, drum roll, aero and marine applications, which are about as sun-vulnerable as you can get. Any questions? I don't have any.

303,Sonus,Autoglym are all good QUALITY vinyl and rubber protectors.

None of these will leave a greasy feeling once dried and all have UV blockers to protect the vinyl and rubber pieces in or on the car (Interior exterior).

Most protectants conatin silicones: Meguiars (except Silicone Free Dressing), Mothers, 3M, Vinylex, ArmorAll, TurtleWax, . . .

I find TurtleWax 2001 Super Protectants to be shinier than Vinylex, Meguiars Natural Shine and 303.

On some surface, it does not leave oily residue. But on some surface, it leaves a little bit oilier residue than some other protctant after similar wiping with dry towel.

At autopia.org, I saw people who like the reformulated ArmorAll.
Does ArmorAll really damage dash? What is the source?
