Surface Scratches
Hello resident experts!!
I have a 96 SL320 with black paint, original. The prior owner took pretty good care of it, but I have surface scratches all in my clear coat. I have tried meguirs scratch X, I have tried light rubbing compound, I have waxed this car until I can't wax anymore! The best thing I have found to kind of hide them is astro-shield, but I can still see them. Does anyone have any recomendations? I don't want to have to repaint it, but it is looking like that will be the only way. Thanks! Brian

I polished a 2000 Grand Prix GT black car last fall.
As you can see the results are amazing. It took me 10-15 minutes of polishing the one fender the pictures shows. With the right polish and the PC amazing results can happen.

Wow! that is truly some amazing results. I will check out the different kits, I have been looking for a new polisher, I have a cheap one from Wal-mart, I think it might be time for a better one! ha ha! Thanks so much for the information!
Best Regards, Brian

Thanks for the comments guys!!
The PC really is the best way for everyone to polish paint. It can NOT burn paint, polish through clear coat or rip off antennas. Remember it isn't a rotary so some deep scratches can not be removed as the PC cant com-pair to a rotary. BUT for 95% of the paint defects we all have the PC will fix them. The before picture really didn't show how bad the spider-webbing and minor swirl marks were. Like I tell people, the only way you can damage paint with the PC is if you drop it on the paint. Thanks again guys! Jon
