a new paint job, how much>?>>
I have a 99 E300 with rust spots on the trunk and small ones on almost every body panel. no dents but rusting along the body side molding. I guess I should have listened to my wife when she told me to keep the car in the garage. I took it to a local bodyshop with a great reputation and was quoted $4700 to correct the rust and repaint the entire car. The car is black, non metallic. I was not expecting it to be that high. Is that out of line?
The car has 150k miles on it and runs great. |

Do you have the 30year paint work warranty? I thought this started in about 1998. Also, MB has accepted there is a rust problem with later w210s, maybe you can get some goodwill.

We are just finishing a 126 and the bill is going to be right around 8K. There are around 600 dollars worth of parts in there too. And we did paint all the lower claddings and bumpers.

4700 is a good price but ask about things like the number of coats of clearcoat and paint and what will be done, etc.
But I would definately look into the warranty thing. The W210 is notorious for rust and rusty pieces falling off, MB is finally acknowledging the problems. |
