I have attached a picture of my 560SL star. The grill pices are in the same condition. I would like to know the proper way to restor the color of this star and grill pieces to the original condition. I would also like to know if the chrome star can be removed from the rest of the centerpice. I know it looks gold in the picture but it is chrome.

These pieces apear to have a dark metalic gray color. I was wondering if that was paint and if so what is the color code. The pieces are stained and faded tomarrow I will try washing in the dish washer. Any other ideas?

Since I posted this the dishwasher worked very well at least for most of the parts that are visible when its installed. Im going to try more hand washing in the sink at some of the areas that it missed.
