WoW! I don't think I have ever seen a polish like that in my life. I mean you cannot even tell what color it is because of the reflection. Awesome job.

I want to detail my ML430....so now I know what to use.

If you are an amateur you want something called a Random Orbital Polisher/Waxer. The circular pattern of the head along with the circular motion of the tip will not cause you to burn the paint and its idiot proof. You can buy a cheap one like Rahulio1989300E did above or you can buy a Porter Cable which is widely known to be a pretty good make. Just make sure it says Random Orbital!
Yes, you must get a random orbital device, unless you REALLY KNOW HOW TO USE A NON RANDOM ORBITAL.

Also, I did not want to introduce more scratches, so I made sure the polishing pad was kept moist with the polish/wax I used at all times.

I used a terry cloth pad to remove the excess wax/glaze, I hit it with my hand to break loose any embedded dried wax/glaze after every 3 square feet of paint area covered. This prevents dried wax from doing any damage.
