Installed a new cloaking device, do you like it? 1 Attachment(s) Hello all, This lovely Friday afternoon, I washed, polished, and waxed my car.... What I used: Vector 6" random orbital waxer/ polisher (did a fanatastic job, bought from Pepboy's for $25) Meguiar's Gold Class Wash Meguiars #9 Glaze Meguiars Gold Class Liquid Wax... I LOVE THE RESULTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was a bit timid at trying a $25 waxer as opposed to the $100 Porter Cable I have heard so much about... I can't afford to spend $100 on a polisher, so I thought I would try another cheaper alternative... turned out much better than I have even hoped! |

 Where's the car? ;) :D |

Great Job... but you missed a small spot near the rear bumper area. Not quite as shiny as the rest of the car! :) |

Speaking of polishers . . . I've seen a lot of cars with swirl marks on them and assumed it was from electric polishers. Is this more due to using the wrong type of wax, a poor quality polisher, poor technique? What? I used not to mind the work out, but now that I'm looking back at fifty, I tend to get tendonitis in my elbows and am reconsidering the polisher issue. |

When you say swirl marks you must be talking about burn marks. These are huge visible swirls on the paint that are caused by an amateur using a professional polisher wrongly! These polishers just spin on their axis at varying speeds and you can literally take the paint off with them. You really have to know what you are doing with them. If you are an amateur you want something called a Random Orbital Polisher/Waxer. The circular pattern of the head along with the circular motion of the tip will not cause you to burn the paint and its idiot proof. You can buy a cheap one like Rahulio1989300E did above or you can buy a Porter Cable which is widely known to be a pretty good make. Just make sure it says Random Orbital! |
