Best Way To Reattach Wood Panel To Ash Tray?

The wood panel came off my 1991 126 body style ash tray. It was originally installed with some sort of adhesive. Can anyone here tell me the best way to reattach it?

Also, can anyone tell me how to remove the ash tray carrier, I want to lube the tracks.

Thank you.

I used Gorilla Glue, only down-side is that all the previous adhesive had to be scraped off, and it needed to be held in place while the glue set up.

To get the Ashtray carrier out, remove the ashtray by popping it out with a small screwdriver or your fingetnails. Then there are two screws under that to remove then the whole thing slides out, but make sure to unhook the electrical connecter to the cigar lighter.

Use clear RTV silicone and I guarantee it'll NEVER come off. That's what I used on my 560SEL when the same piece came off. Just use a small amount and clamp it with rubberbands overnight. You won't be able to remove it!
