I just got a 91 300e 2.6. Really nice with wide 16" 8 holes, white w/tinted windows. For some crazy reason I want to rebadge it as a 500e. What do y'all think. If fly right by you are going to say yeah right? or Nice.......... Only outward or body difference I have noticed with the 500e is body kit...?

well people who don't know benzes will be impressed by the "better" car. but owners like us will flame you and tell you take it off. and there are various things different from a 300e and a 500e so it might be easy to distinguish to those who know a fair amount of info. Its up to you do it and you should not have posted this in the detailing section.

There's over 4000 parts that are different on a 500E than a standard w124 body. There is no "body kit". I suggest going to www.500e.com and read up on these cars to know what they are. A 500E/E500 is no typical w124.

You already have a nice car. the w124 is one of the best looking cars Benz ever made. Why mess with the look and try to make it what it is not?

A better idea, IMHO, is to look at pictures of members' cars and see what external mods work best in your car. How about euro lights?

Why don't you install Sportline suspension, you'll love the improved handling. You'll be able to put Sportline badges & wear them proudly.

Sort of a reverse sleeper. Put a 300D badge on it. That way if it starts smoking, people will think it's normal. Also less likely to tailgate.

maybe you could even put a Vtec sticker somewhere?

Be proud of what car you have as it is ...any W124 is a nice ride.

Putting a 500E badge on it opens yourself up for a ton of ridicule; especially when you get smoked on the road by someone who wants to tangle with a real 500E.

...or go badgeless and keep them guessing !!...but anyone who knows cars will know yours is not a 500E if you badge it like that.

The great thing is that this is America and you can do that if you wish.

Why stop at 500? Go for a 1000E, people will think you are twice as cool, rich, and fast as 500E owners.
