Dash cover.

My dash is cracked and am wondering about the replacement dash covers they sell. Has anybody tried them and do they look allright?
From cosmetics to comfort. I turned on my heater/A.C. blower and after 5 minutes or so I started to smell an odor somewhat akin to phenolic or bakelite burning. After 5 or 10 minutes of this and the blower wouldn't operate from the blower switch at all. When I got home I hot wired the blower and it works. Anybody have any thoughts on this. Milt.

Dash covers.... get the rug style covers for the entire dash to hide one small hairline crack. Might wanna think about dingle balls along the windshield top and rear window too...... then some fuzzy dice to hang from the rear view mirror.

Otherwise somebody out there is developing thick latex/acrylic "paint" that fills the crack and resurfaces the original vinyl. Heard about this from somebody here called jim16671836 when visiting his shop one weekend. You can find him on the parts forum here if you want the details.

That stuff might not hold up well with drastic temp changes.

Don't know if being in Arkansas is an issue though.

You might check with these folks for a dash cover:

http://www.capitolwest.com/

I got one for my 107 and it is very nice. The company dyed it red to match my original dask, looks great and only $110.

Here is a good picture tour for installing a dash cover:

You can purchase a dash cover right from the Mfg. and save a few dollars
www.coverlaymfg.com. Take the time and get a good fit before applying the RTV. I have used serveral of these over the years and have always been pleased.
