don't you just hate it when you take your car for a wash, and start driving, its all clear and sunny out, then all of a sudden, the clouds roll in, the rain starts, and that freshly washed car is now all wet.

Really annoys me too, I only took it into the wash because some rain happened last night that got the car dirty. Though I do get unlimited washes on the car fromt he car wash, so its not a big deal, but it just annoys me when the wash was wasted. :(

Its even worse when they salt and sand the roads. Last week I picked the car up from the shop after having some suspension work done. The car had a little of what you are describing, rain mess. I took it to a car wash, got it sparkling clean and then drove 3 miles home. I parked the car think I might get a quick wax on, but when I got out of the car it was easily three time dirtier than when I picked it up at the shop (one nice thing about the dealers is they always wash the car for you, independents usually don't but it wouldn't have matter that day). I had to get the hose out and re wash the whole thing. Then I polished and waxed it in the cold winter weather. I seriously thought about having my wife take a taxi to work the next day so she wouldn't mess up my detailing job, but hey its winter right. It can only last 3 or 4 more months.

NOPE, I don't

Normally I do not hate the rain on my car...and I even do like the snow!
If you do not wash your car that much, the problem doesn't appear that big...

I only hate the rain when the outer temperature is above 15 degrees celsius; it makes it impossible to do some roofless driving!

Yeah Alon,

That Sucks! Unfortunately that is par up here! Ever day I wash the cars, it rains the next day or the same day!

Sort of like showering then playing Football. :D

What Rain?

What are you guys talking about? Winter is a great time to get out and enjoy the weather. Fri - 72, Sat - 78, Sun 81, Mon 75, Tues - 72, Today - 65 (burrr), etc. :D

hehe Ernest, I'm in los angeles, and we had a little spurt in beverly hills area when I was on my way into the office after just having the car cleaned.

The weather all weekend was great, then today it was chilly, for us that is. :) hehe

I had the car washed on saturday, then on monday, and again today. that makes 3 times in less than a week. :) hehe I will take it in again tomorrow if its sunny. :) Can't pass up unlimited wash deal... $55 a month for unlimited washes, and a hand wax once a month. hehe too good to be true, but it is true. :) hehe

MBenz, how did your car get that filthy, it looks terrible:) You must wash it alot. Are the roads really that bad there.

MBenzNL 02-09-2001 02:37 PM

CaptAlex,

I only wash my car once in the 25-30.000 km. At this moment we have a lot of salt on the roads and I drive about 1500-2000km per week, so there is no fun in washing the car at all!
The sides of the car get that dirty because I spend a lot of my time in the dutch clay and the back of the car is that dirty because the AMG package picks up every single piece of dust and dirt that is on the road...
Most of the roads are good (and clean) here, but I tend to drive over the smaller country roads as much as possible because there are no speed traps on those smaller roads...

Don't forget the weather on http://www.cnn.com

I usually use cnn or weather.com

Like I said though it was sunny and all, then just out of the blue the sky rolled in clouds and it had started raining. :) hehe was just annoying to have wasted time, other than that I had the car washed again the next day when it was sunny. now its been rainy again, so the car will go in for a wash tomorrow if its sunny. :) hehe

I love driving a clean car.

I know that feeling all too well -wash the MB clean under the sun, and the rain sets in just as you're done drying it. I used a car-cover after the wash but before the rain once but it stained the paint work real bad from moisture-trappings. Costly experience.

MBenzNL 03-11-2001 10:59 AM

I finally took the time to wash my car yesterday and since the weather is getting better, I got rid of the winter tires.
It has been some 30-35.000km since I last washed my car and although the weather reports forecasted some sun today, it is raining instead.
Alon, now I know what you meant...

Alon I would say quit your complaining. By living in Southern Cali you have the best climate one could wish for, well in North America at least. The rest of us have to endure real winters, for me that's a cold Canadian winter. In the middle of winter many cars look like ****, caked in dirt and road salt. Not much sense in washing your car when it's -20 C (-5 F) only to have your locks freeze shut. Not all of winter is that cold, but I remember when I was driving one cold December morning and it was -35 C (-30 F) outside.

But now winter is ending, which means lots of dirty water everywhere, resulting in absolutely all the cars on the road being filthy. It's almost over though, and I have a long spring and summer to look forward to.

BTW I washed my Benz today and yup it rained, and it's gonna freeze overnight so driving tomorrow might not be so fun.
