Sad Sad Story
I love my 300e.
That is not the entire story, but it makes a good intro, I think. Before I purchased it I was hired to detail the car. I took one look at it and decided to run away, maybe to the Alps or Mexico. The paint looked HORRID! As I looked under the hood I realized it was a black car. You really could not tell from the outside that it should be black. Years of neglect had left it an ashy gray. I told the owner that I was not going to promise anything on the exterior, because I had never seen one transform as this car was able too. After some research I found that the issue was the fact that the 1991 300e had a single stage black paint. That would explain why my wool pad, my polishing pad, and even the wax applicator turned black after use. I started with a 3m waffle pad and 3m Perfect-it medium compound. The roof amazed me, and so did the rest of the car. It took me 3 hours of compunding , 2 hours to polish the car, and then I spent a good hour with the wax to make sure no swirls would emerge. then another 2 on the interior. When I completed the car I was stunned at the difference. The car had already been lowered and e430 wheels installed, so with the paint refreshed I decided this was my next car. $5000 and a new evap later I am the proud owner. I do bumper repair for a living and I paint the bumpers in the parking lot of the dealership I have an account with. Well my boss decided he would paint a white Dodge fender up wind of my car and several other cars. He did this while I was at lunch, and neglected to tell anyone to move their cars. I arrive and my nice shiney (rain doesn't even touch this car) black Benz is covered with white specks! I mean not just one side, every thing has specks!!!!! No malice toward my boss, but WTS! I now start the clay baring, and rewaxing. This white paint just will not come off! I am using the medium clay, but I am about to step up to something harder! Just thought I would share. |
That really sucks man,
It would really piss me off if it happened to me. Is it very noticable? It seems like you have the tools/skill to get rid of it :o |
Yes, the overspray was terrible.
I think I may just wetsand the entire car. |
New Paint Job
When the school I work at got overspray on several cars in the parking lot they repainted them all!

E300D, tell me how beautiful your E-class is! My brother had a 1995 E300 Speacial Edition it was gorgeous. We drove down to FL only refilling her ONCE!!It was the worst mistake we made by selling her. If I could find one now, I would buy her right AWAY.

Do you have any pics for us, sloweredk300e:confused:

Did you show that to your boss? Maybe he feels bad enough and let you paint the entire car. That will save you plenty of work plus a ne paint job.

Paint Overspray
If the car's finish has wax on it, how can the overspray stick very much?
Black is beautiful, though! |

It will come off, it is just that the damn thing has so much on it! Also my boss is a dick when it comes to **** like that. He knew where the keys were, he could hav4 moved my car, but he didn't care. He was probably high on pills or candy. In this picture it was a little dirty http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/we...ZkMzF5NTQx.jpg He is going to buy me a new claybar so I can start fresh. Or about 10 sheets of 1200 wetpaper and I will make that mofo smoooooooth... |

He is an ass. I will use the the company credit card. Oh and guess waht my 8 year old brother did Friday night? My friends and I stopped in so I could take a shower before heading to Athens for some partying. HE decided to show off and threw an egg at my car. We left my car and it was outside (NEVER sleeps outside, but I had to let my friend hide his truck in my slot.) until Sunday morning. Was Sunday afternoon before I noticed the passenger side roof had egg cooked on the roof and windshield. I wanted to kill his fat ass!! But what can you do. the egg came off and hopefully some wetsanding will repair the shallow marks it made. |
That punk needs a good beating.

amazing the styling of that car still looks fresh.
On my C-class the black plastic molding along the windshield A-pillar over the roof near the door tops into the back window has changed from deep black to a - best way for me to describe it is - OIL SHEEN SMEAR appearance. Does your 300E have this and can you get rid of it by detailing? |
