What do you use to polish your wood dash?
hay guys/gals,
What do you recomend to polish the wood in your dash. I heard that you could use just use a carnaub past wax. That does not sound right to me have you tried that? My dash is almost new. thanks blau

Does anyone know if any company makes MB wood trim in plastic? I have been in the Plastic business for 30 years, and if done correctly you should not see the diffrence.

I think you'll be polishing either polyurethane... or nitrocellulose lacquer. Both finishes are also used on guitars. |

Ive been using Meguiars clear plastic cleaner and polish to clean the surface of the wood trim. Then follow up with Meguiars carnuba wax and youre set. Looks like new and the wax protects and shines.

Any car wax will make your wood look good, but I've spoken to guys who have Mercedes show cars, and they use piano polish.
I'd go to any piano store and what they sell there.

Mercedes "wood" is typically a veneer with a thick clearcoat. The "engineering" theory is to prevent splinters during a crash and deformation of the cabin. As a result, "wood wax" is a waste, you actually need a plastic polish.

Razor Thin Veneer
Ra_ and MTI are both correct!
The wood surfaces have multiple coats of polyurethane. (Sometimes when the "Wood" looks cracked [from exposure to U.V.] only the "Poly" finish is bad,AND the poly can be removed and reapplied) |
