In my search for the "Holy Grail" of the best wax, I've decided to do my own unscientific comparison test. The test car will be my '90 300SE, Astral Silver. The light color will limit depth of gloss comparisons but I'll give results for the following:Gloss, ease of use, dust residue, static, smooth finish and durabilty.

I'll use a numbering system to determine differences 1-5,with 1 being very little and 5 being alot.

Today I started with Zymol cleaner wax and Turtle Wax Emerald liquid.

Gloss- Tie
Ease of use- Turtle Wax +3
Dust residue- Turtle Wax +4
Satatic- Tie (none)
Smooth finish- Zymol +1
Durability- We'll see

Comments:The Zymol is richer, used less and smells like suntan lotion. The Turtle Wax was very easy to apply and remove with very little dust. So far; advanyage Turtle Wax.

I'll update this monthly. Should be interesting.

I am so taken with your enthusiasm.

What about thinking of lacquering - which my brother did and he needn't have to wax or worry of peeling paint for at least a year or two? (Just a thought, but please don't let this discourage your experiment which I am now so eager to hear!)

zaino

Don't forget the Zaino system. It's not wax but it performs the same function but better. It lasts longer and it looks better. The minus - its more expensive and the first application takes longer. If you really care about the look of your car you'll use Zaino. Most show cars use Zaino not wax.

Benzo,

Go to http://www.zainobros.com, this is what I'm going to use once the weather permits. If you do a search on "zaino" you'll see the opinions regarding this line of products.

Take care,
Brian W.

I have started using Turtle Wax Express Shine Spray Car Wax. It is very easy and quick to put on and has the best shine and gloss of anything I have ever used. Also there is no was dust or trying to get wax out of the crevices to deal with. The only drawback is it does not last but about 3-4 weeks.
