Underhood Detailing
I have a 1992 500E and need to touch up the silver paint that spells out "Mercedes-Benz" on the engine/air cleaner cover.
What type of paint should I use? Any other tips to this apparently simple job? Kirk 1992 500E Black pearl/gray Bone stock 71,700 miles Last edited by Fangio; 05-02-2006 at 09:35 AM. |

Fangio,
I have the same situation with my 92 500SL and am anxious to here of a fix for this cosmetic problem. It's the one imperfection under the hood.

Me too ...
Well, I have a similar need ... I'm going to match the silver paint from a hobby store and use a rubber roller (also from a hobby store) to "roll" the paint onto the raised lettering. The MB star will be another challenge though ... no espresso when I hand paint the star!
