removing chrome trim from 123 TE

I have the beginning of rust on the rear quarters of my 1980 280TE.
The rust is beginning underneath the lower chrome trim that is at the base of the rear side windows (the ones furthest back)
I looked for threads about this to no avail. Can anyone advise how to get them off without damaging them? Or where I might go to get the answers. Nothing in the shop manuals. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
