My '83 300D has a blue interior. I've detailed the entire cabin, which was surprisingly clean, but the headliner's another story: what color is it supposed to be, with this interior color? It looks now to be a grey sort of cross-hatching, but is it supposed to be white? I'm trying to determine what cleaner to use: OxyClean or the harsh (and odiferous) Simple Green.

I would try Simple Green. I use it on my interior with a tooth brush and it does wonders. I always go back over everything with 303 Aerospace once I am done.

Simple Green should work rather efficiently.. I too use it on my interior- its great for MB-Tex! Simple Green + Tooth Brush = grime free, blindingly clean tex. Of course a follow up with 303 aerospace is a must!

I also use Simple Green for initial cleaning of the headliner... once I have the headliner clean, I wipe it off regularly- maybe once a month, with 303 Carpet + Upholstery cleaner... cleans exceptionally well, and neutralizes odors better than any other product I have used.

I tried the all-purpose cleaner I had on hand, 'Fantastik!', on a small part of the roof. The few little dark streaks caused by mascara or something didn't come off, but three revolutions of spraying with the cleaner, then wiping out with a circular motion using a lint-free cloth, heeded three gradually less grime-ridden cloths, until the fourth, which came out clean. It really didn't look like it, and there isn't a significant color contrast at the edge between the cleaned part and the uncleaned part, but this thing really was pretty damn dirty! I'll pick up some Simple Green tomorrow and go over the whole thing!
