Leather cleaning
I have a '73 450 SL that has original Bamboo interior. It's really in good shape, but I have not been able to crack through dirt in the grain of the flat panels, the dash and the convertible boot trim. I have used Maguiars, tried goo gone. Good old fashion soap and water, and Neat's Foot oil and i still have dirt in the grain. Any ideas, folks?

X2. If Leatherique doesn't do it, it may be moving outside the scope of what you can handle. Leather Master is another company that makes a strong cleaner. I've had some success with it. It's only a cleaner, not a conditioner. |

I've been using the Mercedes Benz Leather Cleaner and Conditioner (from the dealer) for several years now. It works well for me. It's made by Meguiar's and I apply by hand, then towel off with a cotton towel.
It removes plenty of dirt and grime and leaves the leather feeling supple and soft. Doesn't leave a shine and doesn't come off on pants/clothes. It's a blend of mild detergents, waxes and oils. By all accounts, Leatherique is a fine product, but it seems more designed for rejuvenating and cleaning aged and/or distressed leather. For regular cleaning and maintenance, I would think the Mercedes product is fine. All IMHO.

I used The Ultimate Sponge from a .99 cents store and worked so well.
Give a try and you will see. |
